Daryl Dammer
Rushmore, MN
Daryl was born Feb. 24, 1950, the son of Sievert and Jessie (Janssen) Dammer. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Rushmore. He attended school at Adrian through the 10th grade and completed high school at Worthington.
Daryl married Donna Croat in 1971 and they had six children together and later were divorced. He married Charlotte Green on March 16, 2001.
He was employed at Armour Packing House doing production work for many years and then left to do construction work for four years. He returned to the packinghouse in Worthington after it was taken over by Swift and worked in the maintenance department. He retired in 2014 after a combined 42 years at the packinghouse. In addition to his regular job, Daryl was always busy with carpentry work and metal roofing projects.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Daryl had a green thumb was known for fabulous garden and variety of produce he grew. Daryl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore and Eagles Club in Worthington. He also served on the Rushmore Fire Department for a few years.
Daryl was 66 years old when he passed away on December 8, 2016 at his home in Rushmore.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three children, Lynette Wenzel of Rushmore, Tamara (Kevin) Stude of Sioux Falls, SD, and Amy Dammer of Rushmore; five grandchildren, Taylor Wenzel, Tori Wenzel (Kyle Perry), Noah Stude, Antonio Dammer and Kiley Dammer; one great grandchild, Brayden Perry; three sisters, Janice (John) Bents of Lincoln, NE, Nancy (Jerry) Krull of Rushmore, Bonnie (Rodger) Breuer of Sioux City, IA, his in-laws, Verne (Janet) Green of Gregory, SD, Roger (Marti) Green of Owatonna, MN, Elnora Hemesath (Duane Eink) of Ossian, IA, Wayne Green of Luverne, MN, Jerald (Evelyn) Green of Adrian, MN, Bernard (Beth) Green of Bemidji, MN, Orvin Green of Adrian, MN, Denise Sprecher of Luverne, MN, Reva Green of Luverne, MN, Roxanne Green (Terry Reisdorfer) of Luverne, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Dammer (1975), Thomas Dammer (1977); one daughter, Stacy Dammer (1975); three brothers, Johnny Dammer (1949), Verlyn Dammer (1988), Allen Dammer (1987); sister-in-law Darla Green (2015).
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Adrian Funeral Home with interment at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
